Vasopressin and oxytocin receptors in GtoPdb v.2023.1

چکیده
Vasopressin (AVP) and oxytocin (OT) receptors (nomenclature as recommended by NC-IUPHAR [94]) are activated the endogenous cyclic nonapeptides vasopressin oxytocin. These peptides derived from precursors which also produce neurophysins (neurophysin I for oxytocin; neurophysin II vasopressin). differ at only 2 amino acids (positions 3 8). There metabolites of these neuropeptides that may be biologically active [69].

Role of metabotropic glutamate receptors in vasopressin and oxytocin release.
The effect of metabotropic glutamate receptor (mGluR) activation on vasopressin (VP) and oxytocin (OT) release was evaluated using explants of the hypothalamoneurohypophysial system. (+/-)-1-Aminocyclopentane-trans-1,3-dicarboxylic acid (t-ACPD), an agonist at groups I and II mGluRs, increased VP and OT release in a concentration-dependent manner. A role for group I mGluRs in VP and OT release ...
متن کاملVasopressin differentially modulates non-NMDA receptors in vasopressin and oxytocin neurons in the supraoptic nucleus.
Magnocellular neurons of the supraoptic nucleus release the neuropeptides oxytocin and vasopressin from their dendrites to regulate their synaptic inputs. This study aims to determine the cellular mechanism by which vasopressin modulates excitatory synaptic transmission. Presumably by electroporation through perforated patch, we were able to successfully introduce biocytin into cells in which w...
متن کاملSelective localization of oxytocin receptors and vasopressin 1a receptors in the human brainstem.
Intranasal oxytocin (OT) affects a suite of human social behaviors, including trust, eye contact, and emotion recognition. However, it is unclear where oxytocin receptors (OXTR) and the structurally related vasopressin 1a receptors (AVPR1a) are expressed in the human brain. We have previously described a reliable, pharmacologically informed receptor autoradiography protocol for visualizing thes...
متن کاملVasopressin, oxytocin and social behaviour.
Understanding the neurobiology of social behaviour in mammals has been considerably advanced by the findings from two species of vole, one of which is monogamous and pair bonds whereas the other species is promiscuous and fails to form any long-lasting social relationships. The combination of neurobehavioural studies and molecular genetics has determined behavioural differences between the two ...
متن کاملNeuromodulation by Oxytocin and Vasopressin
Oxytocin (OT) and vasopressin (VP) are two closely related neuropeptides, widely known for their peripheral hormonal effects. Specific receptors have also been found in the brain, where their neuromodulatory actions have meanwhile been described in a large number of regions. Recently, it has become possible to study their endogenous neuropeptide release with the help of OT/VP promoter-driven ex...
